February 2009-Kiawah Island

Starting February 25th I had the wonderful opportunity to spend a long weekend with 4 other friends in Kiawah Island, SC. We had the opportunity to stay in a multi-million dollar house-it had 5 bedrooms, 7 bathrooms, a media room, & a private pool just to mention a few of its amenities! It was a super active vacation: kayaking, biking, lots of walks it was so wonderful to see old Maritz friends and new friends too.

February 2009-Peyton's Baptism

One of the little girls in our small group, Peyton age 7, got baptized at church. Joshua was sick so we couldn't all go together, so Aaron stayed home and Hannah and I went to the service. Hannah was just in awe of the process and she was sitting on Nick's lap (a friend from small group) and said (as only a 4-year old could so honestly), "I sure do love Jesus but I don't like to go underwater!" I guess she'll be an adult baptism!

February 2009-Sweet Treats

Hannah and I have been having lots of fun making sweet treats. First we made Hershey Kisses (made of rice krispie treats) for all her classmates for Valentine's Day. Then she had a circus party at school and she decorated clown cookies all by herself!

February 2009-Trisha's Babies

Trisha & Clint's babies are home & healthy. The kids and I went by to meet Brayden Clint & Connor Stephen-they are precious! Trisha looks terrific and big sister Macy is doing good too.

February 2009-Why God Created Moms

I know that there are a hundred little verses & poems about "Why God Created Mothers" but I saw it firsthand this week. I had made BBQ chicken wings and purposefully kept a few plain for Hannah & Joshua. As Aaron was taking the meat off the bones for Joshua, he (Aaron) dipped it in the BBQ sauce before putting it on Joshua's plate. I said, "If he gets that in his hair you are on bath duty," to which Aaron says, "He's fine." Of course after every bite (of which there were MANY bites if you know anything at all about Joshua) he put his hands in his hair. After dinner while Joshua is playing, I see some sauce in his hair and point it out to Aaron. Aaron says, "no problem," picks Joshua up and using the dirty dish water wipes Joshua's hair down and says, "perfect!" and meant it! I am no longer worried about my position ever being eliminated!

February 2009- Hannah's new room

Now that Hannah turned four, she has her own room (she & Joshua have been sharing up to this point!) So the guest bedroom/sewing room (we moved my stuff to the garage, sad I know but it's working out okay) and we made it Hannah's room. We did it as economically as possible, keeping the wall color the same, same white comforter and my old bedroom furniture. That being said . . .I think we did a great job. It was a group effort by our small group: Marty helped us "borrow/steal" the idea (thanks Parker!), Casey & Mary Leigh used their cricut to cut out the letters & polka dots and I just love it:

Then Mary Leigh cut out fabric letters and I made a pillow with Hannah's name:

I'm not sure the pictures do it justice but the colors actually do look cute together!
I made the curtains, bed skirt, shams, and then a organizer for the back of the door just to have some extra storage space. Hannah loves her new room and it's nice having she & Joshua separated during nap time-it seems like they are both resting better (okay I'm resting better as well!).

February 2009-Bathroom Floor

Aaron is turning into quite the little handy man. He just re-did the (master) bathroom floor. It was bad enough that it was cheap linoleum, and to make matters worse it wasn't installed very well. So he ripped that up and then sanded down the concrete floor, painted and sealed it. It looks really clean & sharp! Good work honey!
